Walid El Masri was born in Syria in 1979. He carries a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Damascus, 2005. He also studied mosaics in the period between 1994-2000. El Masri trained with renowned expressionist painter Marwan Kassab-Bashi during the summer academy at Darat Al Funoun in Amman Jordan. He lives and works in Paris.
El Masri held many solo and group exhibitions in London, Paris, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Dubai, China, Korea, Brussels, Cairo, Tehran and Damascus. Two of his most known collections are The Chair (Al Kursi) since 2004, followed by The Cocoon (Al Sharnaqah) from 2014.
