Born in Majdal Shams, occupied Golan Heights, in 1981; Akram Al Halabi graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University; in 2005; and from the Art Academy, Vienna; in 2012. He co-founded Fateh Al Mudarres Art Centre in Golan. He participated in art residencies in Umea, Sweden, and won a number of international awards. He also participated in group exhibitions in Vienna, Bordeaux, Umea, Paris, Cairo, and Istanbul, as well as participations in Syria and Palestine. His work focuses on condensing human expressions, with daring depictions of the human body in paintings, sculptures, wood carvings, and prints. Recently, he has been using digital technology to depict the effects of war in Syria, through adding his vision to existing digital images.
